JEST 2026 is the screening test for candidates who wish to do Ph.D. Programme in Physics (including Theoretical and Observational Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics in Biology, Plasma Physics and Technology, Atmospheric and Space Sciences, Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science) / Mathematics / Theoretical Computer Science. JEST 2026 exam is usually held on February -March. Using the JEST 2026 Results, considered institute will call a limited number of candidates for its further selection procedure depending on its requirements. Traveling allowance will be provided to candidates called for interviews. All selected candidates will receive Research Fellowship from the respective institutions.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) 2026 written test was held on 20th February, 2026 (Sunday), from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. 5875 candidates in Physics and 1745 candidates in Computer Science wrote the JEST examination. The participating institutes will shortlist candidates depending on their cutoff marks and applicants will directly receive the information about their interview/selection from the respective institute.
